Bay Area hip-hop gets the spotlight at Whiskey Dick’s Saloon this Saturday with a performance by Roach Gigz.

Gigz first gained local fame with close friend Lil 4Tay as one half of the group B.I.G. and the hyphy hit “I Get It,” according to a press release for Saturday’s show.

The 27-year-old rapper has since released two solo studio albums and more than a half dozen mixtapes, including several “Roachy Balboa” tapes. The “Balboa” tapes are a play on fictitious boxer Rocky Balboa and Roach’s own Italian heritage, according to the release. The tapes have received airplay on Bay Area radio station 106.1 KMEL. Gigz has cited 2Pac and Mac Dre among his musical influences.

“I’ve seen the hunger in his eyes since day one,” said Bay Area rapper Mistah F.A.B about Gigz, according to the release. “With the proper support he may get his chance to be the new voice of the modern day Bay Area.”

Rappin’ 4-Tay, best known for the track “Playaz Club,” and South Shore’s own Logic One are set to open Saturday’s show.

Tickets are $15 advance and are available at The Spot and Whiskey Dick’s, or online at http://www.ticketweb.com. Tickets are $20 on the day of the show.

Whiskey Dick’s Saloon is located at 2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
