Bike coalition puts out updated Lake Tahoe bicycle map
August 27, 2014
Lake Tahoe area bicyclists can keep track of all the latest bike path and bike lane developments with the recent release of an updated trail map by the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition.
“This comprehensive map illustrates the many bikeways in the Tahoe/Truckee region with one side dedicated to the South Shore area and the other side the North Shore area,” according to a press release from the coalition. “A bikeway is an inclusive term used on the map to describe all facilities that bicycles may use and they include: separated bike paths, dedicated and shared highway bike lanes, neighborhood connector bike routes, and mountain biking trails. Also included on the map are points of interest, safety information, marinas, parks, and campgrounds – the type of information that helps people make informed navigational decisions.”
Fifty-thousand bike maps are available at bike shops, visitor centers, lodging properties and resorts through the region. The free maps have also been distributed to 325 bike shops throughout Northern California and Nevada and at regional bicycling events.
“The maps are designed for and made available to promote and encourage more bicycling throughout the Tahoe Region, and they integrate well into the mission of many organizations working together to make Tahoe a world-class bicycle destinations,” said LTBC Board Member Adam Turner in the release.
