Businesses wanted to help ‘Light up South Lake Tahoe’

The city of South Lake Tahoe is looking for businesses to participate in its Light Up South Lake Tahoe event over Thanksgiving weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department will have its firetruck decorated with white holiday lights and will begin its procession at 6 p.m., according to a press release from the city. As the firetruck passes a business, the business will turn on its lights. The festivities will conclude at the “Y” with the annual tree lighting, along with hot cocoa and cookies. The goal is to have every business on Highway 50 lit up from Stateline to the “Y.”

The city has purchased industrial grade, heavy duty clear mini light sets from a local business. One set of free lights will be offered to businesses that purchase one 50-foot set of lighting for $12.

To participate, contact Tina Shannon at 530-542-6016 or by Friday, Nov. 2. City staff will deliver the lights to businesses seven to 10 days before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, or the lights can be picked up in advance at the city offices at the airport.
