Calif. bill would regulate ammunition sales

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – A California assemblywoman has introduced a bill that would regulate ammunition sales in the state.

Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner unveiled the measure during a news conference in Oakland on Monday. It would establish restrictions similar to those covering gun sales. Those restrictions require sellers to be licensed and buyers to have and show valid identification.

Skinner says the bill would also ban clip kits that could convert guns into assault weapons and require any large ammunition purchases made in a short period of time be reported to local authorities.

The Berkeley Democrat was joined at the news conference by several local lawmakers and law enforcement officials. She introduced the bill last month.
