Camp Radical starts Monday

The city of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring Camp Radical for youths in grades six through eight. Camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from June 25 through Aug. 30 (closed July 4). Cost varies depending on the trip.

Sign up with a friend or by yourself. The fun all starts Monday with a trip to D.L. Bliss State Park for swimming and hiking. Each day there is something new and exciting to do.

New this year will be trips to: Yuba pools; river rafting on the American River, class 2 and 3 with a rafting guide; tubing in Reno; Art in Action in Reno; Space and Science Discovery Museum in Sacramento; Donner Museum and West End Beach in Truckee; golf class at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course; water ski class at Baron Lake; environmental center in Incline; and paintball at Herbie’s in Reno.

Back by popular demand are: rafting trip down the Truckee River, kayaking, biking, Angora Lake trip, Heavenly gondola, BMX bike riding and combined trips on Tuesday with teens from Truckee, Incline and Kahle.

We have also added three overnights for the middle school students this year: “Sharks in the Dark” overnight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom; “Wild Night” sleepover at the San Francisco Zoo; and Campground by the Lake overnight.
