Former Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority Executive Director Bill Chernock has been named to head the Carson Valley Chamber and Visitors Authority.
Chernock will take charge of all chamber and tourism business operations, strategy development, member services, marketing and promotion starting Nov. 3.
“We are very excited to fill this role with such an accomplished executive,” said Chamber Board of Directors President Sam Slack. “Bill brings a wealth of local knowledge as well as many years of tourism and chamber experience. With Bill’s experience and the continued commitment of our members, the Chamber and Visitors Authority will be well-served in the coming years.”
Chernock comes to the chamber from the position of business development manager for the city of Mesquite. He previously served as the executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and as marketing director for ARAMARK/Lake Tahoe, operators of the M.S. Dixie and Zephyr Cove Resort.
During that time, he served on the boards of directors for the Tahoe Douglas Chamber of Commerce, the South Shore Transportation Management Association, the National Forest Recreation Association and the National Alliance of Gateway Communities, among others.
Chernock, a native of Springfield, Mass., holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.
