Chains and snow tires required on some Lake Tahoe roads and highways

Brisk temperatures, icy roads and light wind has caused slick conditions on a number of California, Nevada and Lake Tahoe roadways. Here’s the latest chain controls and snow tire requirements from Caltrans and the Nevada Department of Transportation:

Snow tires or chains required for 6 miles miles west of Glenbrook and 7 miles west of Highway 395 and South Carson City.

Highway 395 is open with no restriction but there is a high wind advisory in the Washoe Valley. Campers and trailers are not advised.

Snowtires or chains are required between Highway/State Route 28 south to the junction of Highway 395.
