Chopper lifts woman from Horsetail Falls
August 21, 2005
A helicopter rescue was initiated at Horsetail Falls on Saturday afternoon for a woman who broke an ankle near the top of the rocky trail, an El Dorado County sheriff’s deputy said.
The unidentified woman made contact with the sheriff’s department with a cell phone. Lake Valley Fire Protection medical staff rushed to treat the woman and determined a helicopter rescue to be less risky, the deputy said.
California Highway Patrol Helicopter H-20 plucked the woman from the area and set her down at Strawberry Lodge. Friends then drove the woman to Barton Memorial Hospital, the deputy said.
