Since 2004 the Lake Tahoe Democratic Club has been proud to fund the Daphne Forte Citizenship Scholarship, named after an amazing woman. Not only did Daphne care deeply about her many, many piano students, but she was also passionate about her community, her country and the world. She felt so strongly about her core values that she was prodded into action.

In 2003, largely because of her, the local Democratic Club was reinvigorated with much needed enthusiasm and drive. By awarding the Daphne Forte Citizenship Scholarship annually to a civic-minded graduating high school senior, it is the intent of the club to keep Daphne’s spirit alive and well in the youth of today.

This year’s recipient of the $500 scholarship is Sebastiani “Bubba” Romagnolo. While at South Tahoe High School, Romagnolo maintained such a high grade point average that he was recognized as being in the top 10 percent of his class. He excelled in performing arts, appearing in dramatic and musical productions, both school and non-school related, and also found time to donate many hours to community service projects. He will be attending New York University to pursue his love of music and drama. The members of the Lake Tahoe Democratic Club congratulates Romagnolo on his long list of accomplishments. He is truly deserving of this scholarship.
