Climber injured at Lover’s Leap

A an injured climber was flown out to Reno on Sunday after he reportedly fell while climbing at Lover’s Leap.

The incident occurred just before 1 p.m., Lake Valley Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Leona Allen said.

The man fell roughly 20 feet onto a ledge, Allen said.



Personnel from the LVFPD, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and CAL FIRE responded to the emergency call.

The man was long-lined out of the area by rescuers and then flown to Strawberry via a California Highway Patrol helicopter before he was transferred to a CalStar unit for the final transport to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.



Allen said reports of the extent of the man’s injuries were not available. The man’s identity was also not available.
