Club Live students attend conference

Tahoe Daily Tribune

Seventeen South Tahoe Middle School Club Live leaders attended the annual “Reach for the Future” conference in Chico in March. During the conference the leaders attended workshops on drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention, participated in a ropes course, and also attended a Challenge Day. Over 400 student leaders attended, representing many Club Live chapters and schools from all over Northern California.

Other activities at the conference included a dance and a talent show. Eight students from South Lake Tahoe participated in the talent show, including Samantha Barksdale, Ashley Bennett, Shayna Butler, Darius Guerrero, Heather Halverson, Kate Lambdin, Kimberly Oelke and Areina Thomas. Their performances were very well-received as the crowd went wild.

This was the seventh year that STMS Club Live has attended the conference. Each of the leaders thought the conference was worthwhile and will help them to be better Club Live leaders and to also better serve their community. They all hope to attend again next year.
