El Dorado County will host its auction of tax-defaulted property on Friday, Nov. 2, in Placerville.

According to county Treasurer and Tax Collector C. L. Raffety, the list of properties up for bid includes about 300 timeshares located in South Lake Tahoe and 30 land parcels throughout the county. Timeshares often sell at auction for $1,000 or more. Opening auction prices for land parcels are scheduled to be offered at $800 and up. To see the complete list of properties and opening bid prices, visit and click on “Public Auction Tax Sale.” Rules of sale and the registration form are also available on the website. Some parcels have bond obligations associated with them. Bidders are encouraged to investigate and thoroughly research the attributes (and detriments) of all properties before bidding, Raffety stated in a press release.

Registration for the auction will begin at 11 a.m. Participants can fill in the registration form at the auction site on the day of the sale or complete the registration forms online.

The auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the board of supervisors’ board room, Building A, at 330 Fair Lane. Interested bidders may call the Tax Collector’s Office at 530-621-5800 should there be any questions concerning the upcoming tax sale.
