DiMatteo requests new attorney
December 6, 2012
Former South Lake Tahoe medical marijuana dispensary owner Gino DiMatteo has requested a new attorney to defend him against federal drug charges.
DiMatteo requested Sacramento attorney Donald Heller replace South Lake Tahoe attorney Robert Woelfel in court documents filed Thursday. The documents do not give a reason for the request.
Last month, a federal grand jury charged DiMatteo with conspiracy to manufacture at least 1,000 marijuana plants, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and manufacturing at least 100 marijuana plants.
DiMatteo operated City of Angels 2 Collective until this summer. He remains in custody in Sacramento County Jail, according to online records.
