Disabled ADA attorney accused of sexual harassment by four ex-employees

Scott Johnson, a quadriplegic attorney who has filed more than 1,000 lawsuits in Sacramento federal court since 2004, is now being sued by four former legal assistants for sexual harassment.

Plaintiffs Jenna Doeuk, Esra Jones, Monthica Kem and Micaela Lucas, who worked at Johnson’s firm, Disabled Access, had to get Johnson out of bed and undress him as part of their personal care training, according to court documents. The purpose of the training was to help care for Johnson if his personal assistant was missing.

The documents also read that the women had to remove his underwear to put on his swim trunks and take him to the hot tub. After Johnson had soaked, they would take him out of the water, rub lotion on him and dress him.

“The personal care training forced plaintiffs to touch Johnson and see his genitals. This personal care training made each plaintiff uncomfortable but they were afraid to complain because they thought that they would be retaliated against and be fired,” the lawsuit read.

The personal care training would last approximately two weeks, at which time the women were permitted to work in the position they were hired for – legal assistant.

Johnson told Doeuk, who read resumes and interviewed job applications, that she was not to interview men, ugly women or anyone over 30 years old, regardless of qualifications, according to the documents.

It is illegal to discriminate against an applicant based on gender or age as outlined in federal equal employment laws.

Doeuk, who was fired on June 19, was suspended from her job as a result of bringing up many of the issues raised by the lawsuit, according to the documents.

The attorney paid a visit to South Lake Tahoe two years ago, where he took photos of local businesses according to the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce. At that time Johnson had sent more than 40 California South Shore businesses a letter stating that the business was not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A hit-and-run drunken driver left Johnson a quadriplegic in 1981. His lawsuits always allege ADA and state access law violations.

Johnson was unavailable for comment regarding the lawsuit.
