Doolittle accepts Brown’s challenge to debate

Staff report

Rep. John Doolittle, R-Rocklin, last week accepted his Democrat opponent Charlie Brown’s challenge to a debate.

After agreeing to the debate, that Doolittle’s office said will have to wait until nearer the Nov. 7 election, both candidates took swipes at each other.

Brown, the Democratic nominee in the 4th Congressional District race, sent a letter to Doolittle challenging the eight-term incumbent to a series of debates in northern California.

In the letter, Brown requests that five debates be held, including one in Nevada County.

Meanwhile, former Democrat presidential hopeful Gen. Wesley Clark endorsed Brown on Monday.
