Douglas school enrollment down

The Record-Courier

Douglas County schools have lost 207 students, according to recent enrollment numbers. The district enrolled 6,548 students, compared with 6,755 last year.

Carson Valley schools lost 171 students. Every elementary school in the Valley lost students except Pinon Hills Elementary, which gained 24 students.

Lake schools lost 55 students. Some 132 students were displaced last year when Kingsbury Middle School was closed as part of the district’s consolidation effort. But many of those students were absorbed into either Zephyr Cove Elementary, which gained 18 students, or Whittell High School, which gained 59.
