SOUTH LAKE TAHOE – The votes are in: Measure B has failed and two local boards will soon have new members.
El Dorado County recorder/clerk Bill Schultz reported Tuesday that the Nov. 3 election results were certified. South Lake Tahoe voters had the best showing in the county, with 28 percent voter participation compared to 24 percent countywide, Schultz said.
Measure B received 60.5 percent of the yes vote, but needed about 66 percent to pass. The measure would have temporarily shifted bike trail maintenance funds from Measure S to repair Little League fields.
Judy Cefalu will join the Lake Tahoe Unified School District in December, after leading incumbent Duane Wallace by five votes. The incumbents ruled in the races for Lake Tahoe Community College and the South Tahoe Public Utility boards, except for newcomer Chris Cefalu, the son of Judy Cefalu, who beat incumbent Ernie Claudio for STPUD seat one.
