The South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center will present its second annual Cinco de Mayo fund-raiser on Monday, May 2. The event will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Heavenly Ski Resort California Main Lodge.

Entertainment includes a 10-piece mariachi band, dancing with Jorge Orozco and a children’s dance troupe.

Tickets are $20 and will provide a night of entertainment and food from Taberna in the Lakeside Inn & Casino, Los Mexicanos, Chevys Fresh Mex, The Cantina, Applebee’s, El Parque, Substation Deli, Mazatlán and Taqueria Margaritas. A salsa contest will take place before the meal and a no-host bar will be available.

Tickets will be sold for a raffle that could win someone an all-expense paid weekend at a five-star hotel in San Francisco worth $1,000. Raffle tickets are one for $5 or five for $20.

Tickets to the fund-raiser are available at the Family Resource Center, 3501B Spruce Ave., (530) 542-0740; Placer Title Company, 1959 Lake Tahoe Blvd., (530) 542-1811; and the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, (530) 541-5255. Tickets also will be available at the door.

The Family Resource Center provides services to the growing number of low-income families in the community. The demand for the center’s services increases faster than its income can provide. All proceeds from this event support programs that help children and families across the entire South Lake Tahoe area.
