Family needs help after motorcycle accident
September 7, 2012
On Labor Day, eFit member Tucker Leonard’s father and mother were in a motorcycle accident. Tucker’s Dad, Chuck, is in critical condition with broken arms and is expected to live. Jenny, Tucker’s mother, died at the scene. Chuck is the president of Pop Warner football and was unemployed with no health insurance at the time of the accident. His medical bills are likely in the $100,000 and are expected to rise.
I am asking each of you for your support in any fashion you feel comfortable. This is a sad experience for a 12-year-old boy to suffer the loss of his mother and to see his father hurt. EFit is doing everything we can to help the family and Tucker. South Tahoe Middle School Principal Beth Delacour is also working with me to help out; she is also their neighbor.
Many people have offered Tucker a place to stay and I have also volunteered time to help the football team if needed until Chuck returns. We have had an overwhelming response from the community supporting the family with fundraising, dinners, food and emotional support for Tucker. It’s been amazing!
Sue Anderson has created a bank account that we can deposit funds into for donations. Anyone who would like to make a donation can visit the El Dorado Savings Bank on Al Tahoe and donate to the Jenny Leonard Memorial Fund, account No. 143015493 or to the Tucker Leonard Educational/College Fund, account No. 143015501.
Things that would be helpful for the family if any of you feel a need to help are:
1. If each of you can donate $5, $10 or $15 that would be helpful. We are opening up a bank account for them to make deposits. His medical bills are outrageous, not to mention the funeral costs.
2. Gift cards for clothes or food. Target, Kmart, Walmart, etc.
3. Get-well cards, balloons, flowers.
4. Anything you can think of that would be helpful to the family.
5. Or simply take a moment and pray for their family.
Beth Delacour is the principal of South Tahoe Middle school and can be reached at email@example.com. Beth is doing all she can do work with the family and eFit to keep us all moving in the fight direction to help the family.
