Barton Health and the City of South Lake Tahoe will present the inaugural Lake Tahoe Lifestyle Festival on Saturday, Sept. 8.

The festival combines Barton’s Family Health Day with the city’s Bijou Bash and will provide free health care assessments and screenings. The event is designed for all ages and abilities and aims to provide a free day of interactive activities to show the community and visitors how they can improve their lifestyle.

According to organizers, the hope is to encourage attendees to get moving by riding their bikes to the festival, get educated by learning about wilderness appreciation and get inspired about Tahoe. Healthful foods, mountain bike tours, a nature appreciation walk, yoga and fitness moves, tumbling for kids, a balance bike obstacle course, sit-down crafts and face painting will all be part of the event. BlueGo will also provide free bus rides on route 53 for the day and will stop at Lake Tahoe Community College and South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bijou Community Park.

All proceeds from sponsors and vendors will benefit underprivileged children in support of the city’s Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund.
