Students in the Junior Enrichment Tournament Tennis program practice their ball toss. JETT is offering free and low-cost tennis lessons this summer at the South Tahoe Middle School tennis court.

Junior Enrichment Tournament Tennis will again team up with the city of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department to offer tennis instruction to all interested students this summer at the South Tahoe Middle School tennis courts.

Last summer JETT and the Parks and Recreation Department provided tennis lessons for 7 to 12-year-olds twice a week for 11 weeks. This summer the program will build upon the momentum gained by last year’s program which provided free tennis instruction to more than 120 South Tahoe juniors. This summer, JETT will offer free and low-cost tennis lessons for young people ages 4 to 14, and tournament team workouts for ranked local juniors. Watch for the Parks and Recreation Department summer brochure for details.

JETT, whose mission is: “to promote diversity and encourage the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence through tennis,” is in the process of obtaining nonprofit status and is also trying to raise funds for the reconstruction of the South Tahoe Middle School tennis courts. Anyone interested in helping with JETT programs, or court resurfacing efforts, call David Alexander at (530) 314-1072.
