It’s Girl Scout Cookie time and scouts throughout the Sierra Nevada Council will begin their annual door-to-door cookie sales Jan. 10, continuing a Girls Scout tradition that began in 1917.

Delivery for pre-orders begins Feb.19. Girl Scout troops will sell cookies at retail outlets from Feb. 26 to March 28.

The cookies sell for $4 per box. Varieties include Carmel Delites, Daisy Go Rounds, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Sandwich, Shortbread, Thin Mints and Thanks-A-Lot.

The Girl Scouts Cookie program generates more than $700 million for girls and communities nationwide, according to a prepared release. Proceeds from cookie sales remain with the Girl Scout troops and the council to finance the activities and plans established at the beginning of each year.
