Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada will sell Girl Scout cookies at supermarkets in California and Nevada at the South Shore throughout the month of March. The sweet treats will be available every day after school from approximately 3 to 5 p.m. and on the weekends.

In conjunction with the cookie sale, the Girls Scouts and Nevada Air National Guard are sponsoring “Operation Cookies,” in which people can purchase cookies and have then sent to a member of the armed forces currently deployed outside the country.

The variety of cookies include Thin Mints, Caramel Delites, Lemon Pastry Cream, Peanut Butter Patty, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Friendship Circles and Animal Treasures.

The cookies sell for $3 per box. Proceeds help support local Girls Scout programs and the Girl Scout Financial Aid Program, which assists families who cannot afford such items as uniforms, handbooks, trip fees and summer camp tuition.

The cookies are available for purchase daily at the Sno-Flake Drive In, Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Modesto Avenue. For more information call (530) 544-6377.
