Kiwanis Club to host community fair

Provided to the Tribune

Kiwanis of Lake Tahoe will host its first community fair this weekend.

The fair will take place Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 in the lower parking lot of Heavenly Resort. It will feature craft booths, a cooking contest, a jam contest, floral displays and carnival rides such as a Ferris Wheel. There is no entrance fee.

The idea for the event came from club president Rich Barna, who wanted to create a family event that would bring the community and visitors together to support youth in the community, according to a press release.

The event is hosted by Kiwanis, Optimist, Boys & Girls Club, Choices for Children, Live Violence Free and Tahoe Turning Point to benefit local service clubs and nonprofits that provide services to families and children in South Lake Tahoe.

For more information and to purchase advance carnival tickets, contact Tahoe Turning Point 530-541-4594.
