Kudos & Kindness

To the editor:

I am writing for two reasons. First, I want to the bring to the community’s attention the all-you-can-eat brunch being offered at Passaretti’s Restaurant at 1181 Emerald Bay Road. It is held from 8 a.m. to noon the second Sunday of each month as a fund-raiser to maintain smaller class sizes for Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

Second, I would like to thank the Passaretti family for their generosity in donating half the ticket price of $13 for each patron at the brunch.

Friends and I attended the brunch in July and were surprised there were so few people taking advantage of a delightful meal for a good cause. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the volunteers working were friendly. My group attended the brunch from 9 to 10 a.m., and it was our hope that the number of participants increased in the remaining two hours of brunch.

This special event is offered as along as people are interested. If you have some place you need to be on the second Sunday morning of the month, please go to Passaretti’s for breakfast first; and if you want to sleep in, please come in for brunch before noon. The next brunch is Aug. 14. Let’s support this community effort that benefits all of us.

All-Star support is appreciated

To the editor:

We would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Dan Holmgren of Holmgren’s Tree Service for his commitment, dedication and never ending emotional and financial support of the South Lake Tahoe 14-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars.

You, your wife, and coach Audie Leonard really gave these kids the inspiration coupled with their skills that allowed them to advance so far in this tournament and for that we will always be grateful.

What a class act. You guys definitely went above and beyond. We would also like to thank the Tribune and Steve Ranson of the Lahontan Valley News for the daily coverage of this tournament in Fallon. We all enjoyed reading about it. Thank you for your support. We are grateful that we made the decision to raise our children in such a special community.
