Kudos & Kindness

To the editor:

Sierra Recovery Center would like to say thanks to Leadership Lake Tahoe members Denise Sloan, Pam Ross-Osinski, Jodi Ballard, Rod Walton and Susan Zeiter for all their hard work on the Reeves house during the weekend of Aug. 13-14. Thanks also to Mike Stuart of Dick’s Fuller O’Brien Paints for donating paint and Lou Fiori Glass for donating linoleum.

After two days they already have the Reeves houses (men’s homes) finished. They have about 3 percent of the work to touch up. The Reeves home houses about 10 to 12 men in one house and five to six in the “mother-in-law” unit. The project was very rewarding not just to the Leadership Lake Tahoe members, but to the clients as well. It was an unbelievable experience for all.

Next weekend they will finish the touch ups and start on another home. They will be working the weekend of Aug. 20-21. To volunteer, call Ross-Osinski at (530) 541-5255 or Jodi Ballard at (775) 588-4531.

Again, kudos to the Leadership Lake Tahoe group, Mike Stuart and Lou Fiori for helping the community “one home at a time.”

Book, craft sale was a success

To the editor:

On behalf of the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library, I would like to thank the entire community for the support of the summer book sale. All proceeds will help support free summer children’s programs. This year was a first in that we were able to have a small crafts fair along with the book sale, and I would like to thank all the artists for their time and contributions.

I would also like to thank local author Todd Borg for helping to support the community by his participation in the book sale. We all look forward to his next mystery novel.

In addition, the summer book sale would never happen without the efforts of the officers and member of the Friends of the Library, and I would like to thank them for their concerted efforts over the years.
