Douglas County Public Library is accepting submissions for a story/poetry writing contest.

Sixth- through 12th-graders may submit a story or poem about their best Halloween experience. Stories must be between 500 and 2,500 words and must be submitted by Oct. 13. Entries may be emailed to or delivered to the library at 233 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove, Nev., or the branch at 1625 Library Lane in Minden, Nev.

The winner will be announced during Teen Read Week, the week of Oct. 15, and will receive a Halloween pumpkin filled with candy.

The Teen Read Week writing contest is sponsored by the Friends of Douglas County Public Library. Some entries may be posted online.
