Local activities to celebrate Unity World Day of Prayer
September 6, 2012
Unity at the Lake will join Silent Unity, an international, trans-denominational 24/7 prayer ministry, and spiritual communities worldwide on Sept. 13 for the 19th annual Unity World Day of Prayer.
Unity World Day of Prayer unites people of all faiths in prayer for the well-being of one another and the world to make a positive difference to foster healing and wholeness through prayer.
Unity at the Lake will host a silent prayer vigil that day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1195 Rufus Allen Blvd. (across from the Recreation Center sign). The community is invited to come by during that time (for as long as you wish) and center in an energy of love and peace, which can then be sent out to the world.
At 5:30 p.m., a “labyrinth walk for world peace” will be held. Accompanied by music, participants will walk the labyrinth on Unity’s property carrying placards that list all the countries of the world. Organizers will also plant a blue spruce “peace tree” and adorning it with prayers for peace.
