Kudos & Kindness: Thanks for recognizing Mount Tallac students
January 24, 2014
Mount Tallac is a continuation school for unique students who cannot, for whatever reason, graduate at South Tahoe High School. Every student has his or her own story why they came here, and that is why this school is bustling with an aura almost as unique as the students. This amazing school is the reason why students like me can graduate, and I think every student here is grateful for that; sadly though, this school usually gets a bad reputation, so when people like Holly Greenough and Thane McCall can recognize just how great of a place this is, I can feel nothing but the utmost respect for them.
Not only do they recognize the importance and the magic of this school, but they recognize how amazing each and every student is. To show support and love for not just our school but the students in it, they hosted a Christmas party for the second year in a row, and McCall rewarded everyone with $50 gift cards to TJ Maxx. Many of the students spent their gift cards in unexpected ways. Melissa Gutierrez spent every cent on her mother; Adriana Aguilar spent hers on two pairs of jeans and a present for her brother; Adrian Ruiz bought two sweaters and a pair of sweatpants; Noah Nelson gave his gift card to his girlfriend as a present; I spent every single cent on Christmas gifts for other people.
This generous donation made everyone at Tallac happy, that and getting our stomachs filled with homemade cookies that were also provided by Thane McCall. From Mount Tallac, we would love to say thank you.
