LTCC bookstore reopens with new merchandise and a new Web site

Staff Reports

The Lake Tahoe Community College bookstore reopened Wednesday following the store’s conversion to a Barnes & Noble College Booksellers. The retail giant’s subsidiary was selected by the LTCC Board of Trustees in September to take over the college’s store. The store was closed Monday and Tuesday to change over to a new point-of-sale system and restock the store.

Students and community members can also now browse the bookstore’s new Web site at ltcc.bncollege.com. The store will also sell Barnes & Noble gift cards.

Barnes & Noble’s proposal includes multiple ways for students to purchase books, growing the bookstore’s used textbook sales, digital textbooks, an enhanced pilot program for textbook rentals, and a broad selection of general reading titles and merchandise for students and the South Shore community. The company will also be taking over the operation of the college’s coffee service.

Barnes & Noble College Booksellers operates on 26 campuses in California, including Sierra Community College and several California State campuses. Each bookstore is tailored to the campus.
