Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 30-year-old Anderson, Calif., man on suspicion of drug sales after a traffic stop turned up almost a pound of marijuana Sunday afternoon.
Jason Tescher was taken into custody after a deputy stopped the Nissan Pathfinder he was driving near Lakeside Inn and Casino about 1:25 p.m. for having expired registration.
During the stop a deputy asked about a smell of marijuana in the vehicle, and Tescher gave deputies several burnt marijuana cigarettes in the ashtray and a bag of marijuana from a suitcase, according to a deputy’s report.
Tescher said he was licensed to grow marijuana in California, but denied selling it for profit, according to the report.
A subsequent search turned up an additional bag of marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana was just over 14 ounces, according to the report.
After finding inconsistencies in Tescher’s story, he was booked into Douglas County’s Stateline jail for alleged possession with intent to sell, according to the report.
