Mary Louise Kessler

Mary Louise Kessler, a 22-year resident of South Lake Tahoe, died unexpectedly of an aneurysm March 17, 2005, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev. She was 62.

Mary was born July 3, 1942, in Los Angeles and was raised in North Hollywood, Calif. She graduated from San Fernando Valley College and went on to study at the New York Institute of Photography, graduating with honors. She was a professional photographer and her business, Mary Ashley Photography, specialized in portraiture, nature and weddings. Mary combined the love of the outdoors with her athletic activities of hiking, bicycling, snowshoeing and spinning. She loved to commune with nature on her frequent trips to Yosemite, Zion, Bryce, Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. She lived her life to the fullest, on her own terms. Her charismatic personality brightened the lives of all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Warren Kessler; son and daughter-in-law David and Claudia Arnold, and grandchildren, Rachel and Brandon; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Carolyn and Michael Packenham, and grandson, Jake; sister, Barbara Ward, and niece, Jenny Ward; and sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Sam Tangye, and niece, Kim.

Memorial services will take place later in the spring at South Lake Tahoe.
