Melodrama to show at Dangberg Home Ranch
Ryan Summerlin July 26, 2012
The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park will present an old-fashioned melodrama production on the park’s east lawn this weekend.
“This Ol’ House” tells the story of Rusty Hinges, an old man and homeowner, along with his wife, a villain and various other characters who are trying to take Hinges’ house away from him, a press release stated. Written and directed by Dave Thomas, the production will be performed on the east lawn of the Dangberg Ranch in Minden, Nev.
The production will be held July 28-29. Tickets cost $30 per car, and each ticket admits up to six people who arrive together in the same car, truck or SUV. Vintage automobiles are encouraged. Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., and the performance will begin at 5 p.m. Wine and beverages provided by Battle Born Wine will be available for sale, and the Friends of Dangberg will hold a “your-choice” prize raffle. Ticket holders can bring their own picnic and must bring lawn chairs or blankets, as no seating is provided. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch.
The Best Barbeque Catering Company is also contributing to the event, offering a meal of tri-tip or chicken with baked beans, caesar salad and bread. The barbecue meal is optional and costs $15, with $5 of each meal sold donated to the Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch. The meal will be served immediately following the production.
