Mighty Mites advance to Snow Bowl

The South Tahoe Mighty Mites are heading to the Snow Bowl. The boys earned their way into the Snow Bowl with a resounding 41-18 victory over the Reno Wolf Pack Blue last weekend.

“Again our Mighty Mites showed up focused and prepared to play the Wolf Pack,” head coach Thomas O’Keefe said in an email.

The Mighty Mites opened the game with two quick touchdown runs by Jake Tarwater. Tarwater scored four touchdowns on the day and also threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Smiley. Capping off the scoring was Malachi Womack, who scored on a 30-yard interception return.

“This was truly a team effort. Our special teams played an outstanding game, coming up with big hits after every kickoff,” O’Keefe said.

Big blocks came from Troy Dingman, Zackary Klug, Hayden Waters and Derek Robbins. Robbins opened big holes for the Vikings to win.

“I am very proud of how our boys block and tackle. Our offensive line is the real reason we can score so many points. But the fact that every Mighty Mite will block for the team is what really makes me proud,” O’Keefe said.
