Mike J. Carpenter, 49, passed away peacefully Dec. 15, 2004, at his South Lake Tahoe home with his family as his side following a 10-month battle with leukemia.

Mike grew up in South Lake Tahoe and in his last year of high school moved to his family ranch in Marysville, Calif. Although they have lived other places, he and his wife have always loved Tahoe, where they have owned a home for several years. They moved to Tahoe permanently in March 2003. Mike was a graduate gemologist and was employed the last 20 years as a gemologist, finance manager and in auto sales.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; mother-in-law, Mary Jo Fisher; grandmother, Edna Humbolt; mother, Marilyn Pinks; three brothers; four sisters; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; 20 nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

Memorial services will take place graveside at 2 p.m. Aug. 20 under the direction of Pastor Dick Randall of the Presbyterian Church, Incline Village.
