National title for cheerleaders

The South Tahoe High School Varsity Cheerleading Team on April 3 won first place in the Intermediate Varsity Division at the Jamfest – Surf Jam – Open National Competition at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach.

There were 30 teams competing, all but STHS from Southern California. The STHS team won the national championship and received a trophy and medals. The team has been practicing two hours a day, four days a week since September at South Tahoe Middle School and their coach is Alexis Craig.

Team members are Miranda DeFressine, Gary Graham, Leysa Segers, Jacqueline Scanio, Melody Contreras, Heather Snight, Annika Spears, Michelle Artinian, Anna McCracken, Victoria Sanfilippo, Megan Pietrowski, Kaylee Dennis, Amy Rennison, Trisha Talbot, Cassie Sweet, Jake Guthrie, Aimee Debacker and Gina Bartoni.
