Neighborhood of the Month: Christmas Valley, Santa’s home In Tahoe
Ryan Summerlin December 1, 2011
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – You don’t have to go to the North Pole to find Christmas, because it’s here in Tahoe! The Christmas valley neighborhood extends from the inspection station in Meyers to Hwy 89 and South Upper Truckee Rd. The streets from Hwy 89 have Christmas names such as Blitzen Rd, Santa Claus Dr., Saint Nick Way, etc.
This part of South Lake Tahoe was appropriately named. The snow fall in this area is abundant and it is better preserved in the winter shadow of Echo Summit. When the conditions are right, you will see ski and snowboard tracks from the summit. In the summer time, the area is drenched in sunshine and you can access trails such as High Meadow, Dardanelles and others from the end of South Upper Truckee Rd.
Where else would Santa go to spend Christmas in Tahoe? Experience the magic in Christmas Valley!
