Nevada gas prices continue to fall

Associated Press

RENO ” Gasoline prices in Nevada continue to fall, dropping 89 cents a gallon over the past three months, AAA said Tuesday.

The statewide average for a gallon of self-serve unleaded fell to $3.36, down 35 cents from the last monthly survey in September, the association said.

Nationally, the average price dropped 49 cents to $3.16

“A major decrease in demand has been the catalyst behind the drop in gas prices,” said Michael Geeser, spokesman for AAA Nevada.

“But the decrease in demand can be directly attributed to the credit crisis and overall economic downturn,” he said.

“While everyone wants to pay lower prices for gas, this drop off in prices is bittersweet for consumers since it’s due to the economic slowdown which affects everyone in some shape or form.”
