New officers installed for widowed persons

Football was the entertainment of the day when South Lake Tahoe chapter Widowed Persons Association of California members met on Super Bowl Sunday to feast and install officers to begin the ninth year of the group in the community.

Officers are Ruthe Justice, president; Dick Garcia, first vice president; Joan Haley, second vice president; Art McAlice, treasurer; and Linda Barsema, secretary.

February activities will include a Chat and Chew luncheon and a mystery dinner as well as a general meeting and dinner at a member’s home. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing trips are arranged as weather and snow conditions permit.

Widowed persons of any duration are invited to join the organization that is one of 23 in California. Emotional support and social interaction opportunities are the basis of the association. Information on membership and a calender of activities may be obtained by calling (530) 542-4912.
