Obituary: Richard Charles Gove
June 21, 2013
August 27, 1947—June 12, 2013
Richard Charles Gove passed away peacefully on June 12, 2013 at Barton Memorial Hospital. He was 65. "Rick" as he was known to his friends, was first diagnosed with a brain tumor back in April 2005, and fought a courageous battle with the cancer for over 8 years. His positive attitude throughout this time was an inspiration to us all.
Rick was born in Princeton, Minnesota, on August 27, 1947 to Charles and Bernice Gove. After graduating from High School, Rick attended and graduated from Saint Cloud State University in St. Cloud Minnesota. After college, Rick started to live his dream (traveling the world). Rick traveled and worked in Europe, Hawaii, Florida, Southern California and finally Lake Tahoe.
Rick spent 33 years working in Lake Tahoe as a Bartender at Harveys Resort & Casino. He loved his job, his co-workers (they were his family) and all his customers from all over the world.
Even though Rick lived in California (35 years), he was always an avid fan of all Minnesota teams, especially the Twins and Vikings.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Bernice, sister Jan Affelt, and brother Michael Fuhre.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Rick's life will be held on a date still to be determined. Rick would like remembrances made to the Lake Tahoe Cancer League or to the Lake Tahoe Humane Society (he loved his cats).
Lastly, All Rick's family from Harveys would like to thank all the staff at Barton Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. You guys are exceptional. You are the BEST!! Thanks for taking care of our friend. We would also like to thank Barton Home Health & Hospice and Dr. Mehrens for everything you have done.
Rick, you will be missed.
