OBITUARY: Curtis Lee Weiss

October 25, 1960 – July 28, 2012

Curtis Lee Weiss was going for a walk when he sat down, leaned against a rock and passed away, July 28th, in the Sierra, an area he loved so much.

Curtis was born in Oklahoma City, October 25, 1960. When he was 3, the family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. When he was 8, the family moved to California. The last 20 years were spent in the Lake Tahoe area which he loved.

Curtis was the beloved son of Anna Marie Weiss and adoptive father, John Robert Weiss, brother of Brandon John Weiss, father of Ryan Anthony Weiss, and grandfather of Faith Weiss; along with many other extended family members.

Curtis had a variety of jobs, but mainly worked as a auto mechanic. He was, also, an avid guitarist, once playing for The Tempest band. He discovered the guitar in his mid-teens. While his mother cooked in the kitchen, Curtis would pull up a chair, sit down, and play Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven” over and over and over. 😉 It was one of Curt’s favorite songs. A week before he passed, he, again, came into his mother’s kitchen and played the guitar for her. Curt will be terribly missed.

A memorial service for Curtis will be held at McFarlane Mortuary, 887 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe, Friday, August 10th at 4pm.
