Obituary — George Joseph Cretilli

George Joseph Cretilli died April 29th at Manor Care Skilled Nursing Care in Reno, Nev., from complications of a stroke suffered after back surgery. He was 79.

Born August 15, 1923 to Anthony and Angelina Cretilli in Minneappolis Minnesota, the youngest of 6 children. Mr. Cretilli was an educator, teaching all school grades including several years in Cardinal Strech, a private college in Rochester Minnesota.

He served 3 years, from 1940 to 1943, in the Army Air Corps in mainetenance and engineering flying supplies from India over Burma to China.

He was the director of a unit of Boy Scouts of America for several years, participating in many of their activities before moving to California in 1987. After retiring in 1992, he remained in teaching as a substitute teacher in California and Nevada until 2002. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 46 years.

He enjoyed golfing and bowling with his many friends and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Meg Cretilli; stepdaughter Linda Adair of South Lake Tahoe; stepson Lance Adair and wife Kathy Adair of Cota De Caza, Calif.; four daughters Lisa Cretilli of Nevada, Teresa Cretilli of California, Patricia Cretilli and Angie Cretilli of Minnesota; grandchildren Teresa and Debbi Lane; Megan and William Cooper; Troy and Robert Adair; Justin and Samantha Peel. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his son Mark Cretilli, and 4 siblings.
