Obituary — James Walter "Jim" Rogers

A celebration of life for James Walter “Jim” Rogers, 61, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, will be at 2 p.m. May 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Carson City.

Mr. Rogers died April 26, 2003, in San Francisco. He was born March 1, 1942, in Oakland, Calif., to Clarence Walter and Helen Helwick Rogers. He attended Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland and married Sharon Crooks Rogers on Aug. 20, 1988, in Carson City. Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Oakland and Agate Bay, Calif. Mr. Rogers was a Snap-On Tools distributor in the Lake Tahoe area. He was a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada Dias con Cristo in Carson City, a First United Methodist Church constituent and a member of the Empire Ranch Men’s Club.

Among his survivors are his wife, Sharon Rogers of Carson City; children, Debbie Rogers Rasmussen of Sparks, Nev., Scott Norris Palmer of Cambridge, Mass., Ron Rasmussen of Sparks and John Johnson of Rescue, Calif.; sister Janet Rogers of Tracy, Calif., and grandchildren, Jessica Rasmussen, Andrew Johnson, Michael Brook, Emily Rasmussen, Ryan Johnson and Isabella Palmer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy McLeod Rogers, father and mother, and daughter, Jennifer Rogers Johnson.
