Obituary — Jose Tacas Palpallatoc

Mass will be celebrated May 2 for Jose Tacas Palpallatoc, who died April 29, 2003. He was 92.

Mr. Palpallatoc was born Jan. 4, 1911, in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1927. He lived in San Francisco for several years and worked for the Navy. He moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1956, where he worked for Harveys Resort & Casino. After 44 years of employment with Harveys, he retired in 2000 and moved to Folsom, Calif. “Papa Joe,” as he was known, will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Palpallatoc; children, Joe and Judy DeFazio, Ernesto, Walter and Debra Palpallatoc, Rudy and Mel Dangcil and Donald and Allen Palpallatoc; grandchildren, Daniel, Bryan, Aaron, David and Anna Palpallatoc, Rosemary De La Paz, Janae and Jaden DeFazio; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Vincent, Andre and Lillyanna Palpallatoc and Alexia De La Paz; brother, Albert Palpallatoc; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Melchor and Catalina Palpallatoc; sons, Manuel, Donald and Allen Palpallatoc; and siblings, Victorino, Felipe and Aquilino Palpallatoc, Venancia Quetingco and Crispina Lucas.

Viewing will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. May 1, with rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home of Folsom. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. May 2 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Folsom, followed by burial at Lakeside Memorial Lawn of Folsom.
