1/18/50 – 10/18/12

Kris passed away on October 18, 2012 in South Lake Tahoe, surrounded by her family after battling a long-term illness.

Kris is survived by her sister, Margo Carrell (Nick); niece, Jennifer Payer (Mason, Tucker and Easton); niece, Courtney Jenkins (Kyle and Mikyla); aunts, uncles, cousins and their spouses, children and grandchildren, and many, many life-long friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Mickey Smith; ex-husband, Rusty Dunn and her soul mate, Richard Woods.

Kris was born in Lake View, Iowa. Her family moved to Corona, California where she graduated from Corona Senior High School. In the years following her graduation from San Diego State University, Kris worked in many areas including waitressing, the airlines, and the building trades; finally making her way to Northern California. No matter where she ventured through the years, Kris always made her way back to her home base, Lake Tahoe. She loved hiking and skiing in the mountains and felt a special connection to the Lake. Kris often spoke of Kiva Beach as her spiritual portal. She enjoyed cooking, fine dining and traveling to new and exciting places. Funny and friendly, Kris made friends for life wherever she went and her smile would brighten any room.
