Tahoe City restaurant evacuated after fire; business has resumed

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — No one was hurt when a small fire broke out at a popular Tahoe City eatery Wednesday, officials said.

At about 1:30 p.m., North Tahoe Fire Protection District crews responded to a smoking light fixture at Rosie’s Cafe, located downtown at 571 North Lake Blvd., said Dave Zaski, the district’s public information officer.

The restaurant was evacuated for a short time while crews put out the fire. The light fixture sustained minimal damage, Zaski said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to be electrical in nature, Zaski said.

The Squaw Valley Fire Department and Calire also responded to the call.

Business in Rosie’s has since resumed.
