Letter to the Editor: Shocked Bonanza ran guest column

How surprised, even shocked, I was when a recent “Guest Column” was published in the Bonanza by Frank Wright, “A farewell to Bill Horn.” Not because of who wrote the piece, that was obvious by its content, tone, tenor, etc., but by the fact that it was published at all.

You see, those of us who attend the Tuesday morning weekly “Community Meeting” at the Bonanza had just that Tuesday (10-1-13) received an excellent lecture from both Mike Gelbman, publisher, and Kevin MacMillan, editor, about civility, decorum, tenor, civil discourse, fact checking, etc., that we were to be aware of in those meetings, and that no personnel attacks would be tolerated.

So you can see why I was shocked when I read in Thursday paper (10-3-13) an article signed by Mr. Wright. Obviously this column was endorsed by publisher and editor since it was headlined as “Guest Column.”

The accusations and examples were not only full of false information, in my opinion, but also attacked me personally. It is bewildering to me, that knowing the writer, you wouldn’t admonish them.

The author has done nothing to enhance Incline Village, but continues to tear it down. I am not asking for censorship — I am just asking for civility, decorum, tenor, civil discourse, fact checking and no personal attacks in the future.
