Pilgrimage to Mexico City planned

The Rev. Pol Gumapo, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Lincoln, Calif., invites individuals and families from Northern California to participate in a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City Sept. 22-30.

Participants will be able to kneel at the feet of the Virgin of Tepeyac and to celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving in memory of Pope John Paul II as well as thank God for giving a new blessed pontiff in the person of Pope Benedict XVI.

A warm invitation is extended to everyone who would like to join in this event, in which there will be an opportunity receive many blessings. As part of the tour-pilgrimage the travelers will visit beautiful Marian shrines, basilicas and cathedrals at the Mexican colonial sites of Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi, Aguascalientes and Guadalajara.

Air transportation to Mexico will depart from Sacramento International Airport.

Once in Mexico the land transportation will be air-conditioned buses, and certified tour guides will attend to the English-speaking travelers.

People who want to see Mexico differently than most of the common tourists shouldn’t miss this opportunity to live the once-in-a-lifetime experience of visiting the American continent’s most venerated Marian shrine.
