Put on your dancing shoes
August 9, 2005
Remember when dancing meant knowing the steps and actually dancing with a partner? If you do, you’ll want to check out the fabulous Sara and Swingtime when they bring the music of the Roaring ’20s to life at the Flappers Ball as part of the Great Gatsby Festival at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Valhalla Grand Hall.
Tickets are $15 per person. Reservations are required, but payment can be made at the door. To make a reservation call the Valhalla Arts & Music Festival at (530) 541-4975.
Sara and Swingtime relive the music of the Gatsby era – a time of flappers, petting parties, prohibition, Bonnie and Clyde, the Ford Model T, the speakeasy, ragtime, Dixieland and a brand new form of music called swing. Singles and novice dancers are welcome to attend.
There is never a shortage of dancers or people willing to teach the basic steps to newcomers. Just bring a smile and your dancing shoes.
