Significant changes in the weather at Lake Tahoe will begin Thursday, with rain turning to snow by Sunday, forecasters say.
A warm, wet cold front from the Eastern Pacific will begin moving into the region later tonight with partly cloudy skies developing this evening.
Expect a 20 percent chance of snow showers by Thursday morning, with a bigger chance of rain later in the day and into the night, according to the National Weather Service. Highs Thursday will be 59 with a low of 42.
On Friday, Halloween, expect rain through the day and into the night. Showers will continue through Saturday, with snow developing Sunday night into Monday morning.
About 6 inches of snow is expected at lake level by Monday morning, according to the weather service.
“Our days of nice, warm wonderful weather are over as the storm moves in,” said meteorologist technician Jessica Kielhorn of the Reno-based weather service.
